What is a Realcorator? (And Why I Built My Business Around Being One)

If you've been following along, you may have seen me introduce a new word: Realcorator. Part realtor, part decorator, all one person. Someone who doesn't just help you buy or sell a house, but helps you actually see the home inside it.

It's a fun word. But it's not a gimmick. It's how I've naturally operated since changes careers and I just put a name to it!

Where This Actually Started

I didn't come up with "Realcorator" in a marketing meeting. I came up with it because I've lived it — four times over, buying my own homes.

Every time, the process looked the same: walk through a house that most buyers would scroll past, ignore the dated fixtures and the beige-on-beige-on-beige, and see the version of it that could actually feel like home. A wall that needed to come down. A kitchen that just needed better lighting and a coat of paint, not a full gut renovation. A "weird" layout that was actually perfect once you stopped fighting it.

That's the skill most real estate agents don't have, and it's the skill most decorators never get to use on a home that isn't already theirs. I wanted both, in one person, for my own family. So I built it, then started offering it to friends and ultimately clients.

Why This Matters for You

When you're buying: I'm not just going to hand you a list of comps and square footage. I'm going to tell you honestly whether a "problem" room is actually a five-minute fix or a five-figure one — before you fall in love with it or walk away from it.

When you're selling: I'm not going to tell you to "declutter and hope." I'm going to style your home so buyers can picture their own life in it, the same way I've had to picture mine, four times over.

The Bottom Line

A Realcorator isn't a title I invented to sound clever. It's the honest answer to a question I kept getting asked: "How did you know this house could look like that?"

Because I've asked myself that same question in my own front hallway four separate times.
